MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) seeks qualified therapist for its Mental Health Services Division to be located at the Brunswick Behavioral Health Center in Lawrenceville, Virginia.  Professional liability insurance provided.  Incumbent provides individual and group therapy to mentally ill consumers and their families; performs assessments, diagnosis and determines appropriate treatment.  Provides emergency services in provision of pre-screenings and implementation of psychiatric hospitalization;  consults with psychiatrist; makes referrals to residential placements; utilizes community resources; and maintains accurate and timely case records as required to meet state licensure and regulatory standards.

Master’s degree in a human services field required (social work preferred); must be Virginia licensed (LCSW or LPC) or license eligible - Board will help obtain - and have documented crisis intervention and outpatient and/or inpatient clinical experience with knowledge of treatment modalities, psychotherapy, behavioral and diagnostic techniques.  Must possess effective communication/documentation skills, valid driver’s license, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.  Criminal history check (fingerprinting) and drug test required.

CHILDREN SERVICES THERAPIST

Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) seeks licensed Therapist for its Family and Children Services Program to cover Halifax and Mecklenburg Counties, Virginia.  Provides outpatient individual therapy to Seriously Emotionally Disturbed or at-risk children, adolescents (ages 3-18), families and clinical assessments, evaluations and intakes.  Develops treatment modalities; maintains effective working relationship with  courts, schools, social services, and other agencies; and provides crisis intervention and emergency services as needed.  Maintains accurate documentation as required by all regulatory guidelines.  Agency car provided for travel to sites.

INTENSIVE IN-HOME COUNSELOR

Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) seeks qualified individual for its Children Services Program in Mecklenburg/Brunswick Counties (position based in Lawrenceville, VA) to provide direct therapeutic crisis intervention to children, adolescents and families.  Incumbent performs individual and family therapy, outpatient clinical assessments and training in behavioral modification; coordinates services with appropriate agencies and completes documentation to meet all regulatory requirements.  Provides immediate in-person response to identified intervention needs of adolescents/youths in home environment.  Some evenings and weekends may be required.

CLINICAL SECRETARY

POSITION NO:  0060

 

Secretary needed by Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) for its Behavioral Health Center in South Boston, Virginia.  Incumbent performs a variety of typing including psychiatric interviews, evaluations and other clinical correspondence; greets clients and performs new and current financial intakes, explaining rights; enters client data into agency's data-base system interacting cooperatively with Reimbursement Office;  schedules appointments for clinicians and psychiatrist; pulls and distributes charts to appropriate clinician daily; receives/posts payments; screens and directs telephone calls; maintains accurate clinical chart documentation; and diverts telephones to after-hours emergency workers at end of day.

Prefer undergraduate degree in Secretarial Science, Administrative or Information Technology - high school graduate minimum. Knowledge of psychiatric/medical terminology helpful.  Must have prior secretarial experience and advanced knowledge of computer applications/software including financial software, and records management. Must possess ability to type with speed and accuracy, handle stressful situations, work cooperatively and pleasantly with a variety of individuals in a busy, multi-staffed environment with limited supervision and maintain strict confidentiality.  Criminal background check and drug test required.

Prevention Specialist needed by Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) to cover Halifax, Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties.  Position based in South Boston, Virginia.  Agency car available for travel to sites.  Incumbent develops and implements effective community-based substance abuse prevention programs for at-risk youth by assessing community needs and active coordination with other agencies.  Conducts group sessions and works with youth to develop positive life skills. Responsible for budget development, expenditures, revisions and required state/federal reporting.  Develops grant writing program.  Serves as liaison for prevention services and community resources.

Bachelor’s degree in human services field and prevention program experience required.  Certified Prevention Professional: Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (CPP-ATOD) preferred.  Must have previous work experience with youth, knowledge of prevention strategies, teaching methods, program development and grant writing.  Must possess effective presentation and written communication skills and ability to work in a pleasant, positive, and professional manner.  Must maintain strict confidentiality and possess valid driver’s license.  Criminal record check (fingerprinting) and drug test required.

PART-TIME FAMILY RESOURCE SPECIALIST

Southside Community Services Board seeks qualified individual for its Healthy Families Program serving young families with children from birth through age 5 in Halifax/South Boston, Virginia.   Incumbent screens, identifies and enrolls participants with risk factors in program.  As liaison, undergoes extensive training, interviews first time parents, and provides information and referrals to community resources as well as information useful to parents.  Provides training, ongoing support to personnel at screening sites and families, and conducts extensive interviews (some in parents’ homes) to determine needs and survey visits, maintaining a complete knowledge of local resources.  Documents all areas of services. 

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required, with at least two years work experience in an Infant/Children Services Program preferred.   Must have knowledge of infant and early childhood development, appropriate family management and discipline techniques and ability to work a flexible schedule and attend mandatory four-day trainings. Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) seeks qualified individual to provide services for intellectually disabled consumers in its King’s Manor apartment complex in South Boston, Virginia.  Provides supervision and training in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, toileting needs, social/interpersonal communication skills, preparation of meals, etc.  Aides in community interaction, outings and facilitates usage of community resources to maximize individual’s independence in apartment setting; provides task training as described in consumer's individual service plan (ISP), maintaining ongoing communication with case manager;  ensures doctors' appointments are kept and monitors/assures medications are taken at prescribed times.  Maintains timely/accurate documentation as required by all regulatory guidelines; transports consumers as needed. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SECOND SHIFT: 3:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.  WITH EVERY OTHER WEEKEND OFF.  ONLY THOSE WITH A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND SAFE DRIVING RECORD NEED APPLY.

Associate’s degree in a human services field with one year direct care experience preferred. High school graduate/GED with indicated experience minimum.
